Happy Holidays!

Hi Everyone,

This week has been so full of activity, drama and general craziness - hoping that everything settles down a bit - I haven't had a moment to craft - I was so happy that last night I had a minute to just be alone in my craft corner after a week of crazy activity! I haven't had a chance to stamp with the beautiful Peaceful Poinsettias stamp set from Taylored Expressions - and so I happy to pull it out and use the coordinating Poinsettia Dies (set of 5) that coordinate with this stamp set.

I tried to keep the design very simple so that this card could be duplicated for the holidays. I still had some paper left over from the Angel Kisses Card Kit and so I used some of the papers and mixed up the greens a bit - I die cut the poinsettia flowers using the dies and layering them up with dimensionals and then used a Spellbinders corner die for the leaves and some distressed stickles to the center flower along with a button and twine. I really love this beautiful sentiment - so perfect for wishing a happy holidays and happy new year all in one:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: Eskimo Kisses from the
Stamps: Peaceful Poinsettias from Taylored Expressions
Inks: Bamboo Leaves and Ladybug Red
Accessories:Poinsettia Dies (set of 5) from Taylored Expressions, ribbon from American Craft, liquid pearls (white opal), Spellbinders and button/twine from scrap

There are so many possibilities with these dies and coordinating stamp set - you can stamp and die cut it out (both open and closed poinsettia stamps for coloring in or solid stamping), or just layer the die cuts out of patterned paper - really excited to try some more combinations!

Hope your weekend is going well!
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
Ciao for now :)

Happy Holiday Monday :)

Good Morning Everyone,

Today over at the Christmas Stamping All Year Long Blog, one of our DT members Vicki of Summerthyme Studio's challenged us to use the spotlight technique where you highlight part of the image by stamping it twice and layering it (here's a great Tutorial to show you how). So I decided to pull out a stamp that I have only used a couple of times and has been sitting at the bottom of the pile - for 2 years (hanging my head down in shame!)

Everything in the card is from my stash. The stamped sentiment is from Taylored Expressions and the tree stamp is from (hmm...? I will go and check on that!) Check out the rest of the cards in the spotlight over at the Christmas Stamping All Year Long Blog and play along if you have a chance! Its been a great way to not only get a jumpstart in the christmas card making insanity - but also to try out some new techniques :)

Hope you are all having a great Monday - I will be back in a little bit later today with some exciting news!

(no - I am not pregnant- LOL!!!)

Thanks for visiting!
Happy Monday!

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge # 41 - Gingerbread Holidays :)

Good Monday Morning,

I love doing Taylor's Friday Cupcake Challenge - but can never quite get to it until Sunday evenings after the insanity of the weekend quietens down. Her sketch this week was a fun one and I couldn't wait to ink up more of Taylor's SASI (Stamp a Sweet Impression) stamps (if you haven't checked them out yet, you can view them here). I have been so excited to use her gingerbread image and so I had to pull it out for this sketch.

The brown cardstock and papers are from her Christmas kit. The gingerbread was colored with Prisma color pencils in shades of dark to light brown to yellow tones. The roof of the house was decorated with brads, there is also a golden brad as the door knob. The icing on the house, windows, etc. is liquid pearls. I used waterfall stickles, crystal stickles and orange stickles to color the gum drops in front of the house.

I cut the house and then popped it on dimensionals. The scalloped edge is created from corner rounders and then the sentiment Happy Holidays was embossed with white embossing powder. The ribbon is from the christmas kit and was attached by punching a hole in the scalloped edge and then tying it through. I touched some copper ink to the edges and added some snow with crystal stickles. The peppermint has a paper glaze on it which is a bit hard to see in the pic but quite shiny in real life :)

This was such a fun card to decorate and such a fun card to make. Makes me want to eat some gingerbread cookies with some chai.... yum!

Hope you are all doing well on this monday! Don't forget to check out what is playing this week on our blog challenge: Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!!! Every Saturday we pick a movie from which to draw inspiration in creating our craft projects - it is such a fun way to watch movies and make cards, etc. :) and also check out the fun sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet!

Thank you so much for coming over for a visit!
Ciao for now!!

Happy Holiday Card

Hi All,

So today I made a card that wasn't for a challenge!! Wow! It felt good just to make a card and I loved this sketch from Jen that she created a few weeks ago that I had to make another card using the same sketch.

This was an almost no stamp card! The only thing that was stamped was the design in the pink DP, in VersaMark and then embossed in clear EP. The sentiment is a rub-on, and the stockings were from DP and then stickled. Oh and some liquid applique for the "fuzzy" part of the stockings. And then they were hung with care on a piece of rolled cardstock.

I felt a little relief in making something x-mas-y after a slew of b-day cards. I am just so amazed at how quickly the month of August is flying by - and then its September - which is one of my favorite months (can you guess why?!).

Alright - tomorrow is a big day - so I bid ye adieu and goodnight!
Sleep tight!
Thanks for coming over for a visit!
