Let It Snow! (but not really till next winter :)))

Good Morning Everyone,

Today is Friday and that means there is another challenge from the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long blog where this week's challenge is to have fun with embossing (heat embossing, light embossing, embossing folders, faux embossing, etc.) As much as I love getting the glittery embossing powder all in my hair and forehead for the whole day, I went with the embossing folder for today's card creation.

I made this using the Christmas Joy Borders & Centers Oval 1-3/4" x 2-5/16" stamp set from JustRite Stampers. I LOVE this little penguin and as much as I love the sentiment "let it snow" - I really hope that we have seen our last snowfall and that it doesn't snow till winter :) I used the one of the cute oval borders in this cute stamp set and then adorened it with punched out snowflakes and bling. The cutie penguin was stamped six times and then colored, cut out and then popped up on dimensionals :) Here is another picture from the side:

Let It Snow (but not today :)

Good Monday Morning Everyone,

Hope ya'll had a great Mother's Day weekend!! Ours was very sweet, simple and lovely! And today - its time for another challenge from the Christmas Stampin All Year Challenge group - and today Vicki Garrett of Summerthyme Studio - has a fun challenge for us to add some blingy bling to our Christmas cards! Who doesn't love a little bit of bling! I know I do!

I pulled out one of my new fave craft stamps that I just got from JanLynn created by the artist Tara Reed - aren't these snowmen just so cute and lovely! This is called Cheerful Snowmen - and they totally make me smile! I love how happy they look and I especially love the little guy holding up the little present I used Jen's Sketch for You to Try and after coloring them, I covered them in Crystal Stickles and then dusted them with coarse crystals from Martha Stewart and now they are sparkly sparkly. I created little snow drops with some liquid pearls.  I added a little bling on the side and used the Let it Snow sentiment from Taylored Expressions. 

I am totally lovin' doing these challenges - I am never this organized with creating Christmas cards so early! I don't know what I am going to do with all my spare time around the holidays - maybe actually enjoy the season without that much stress about creating a bunch of cards :)

Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge #34 - Let it snow

Hi Everyone,

 Kristina Werner  is back with another fun Color Inspiration Challenge (#34) from this picture of yarn that she took in NYC.  

I love yarn - totally makes me want to knit again- which I haven't done in forever - but am totally inspired  to get back into it after seeing this pic of this yummy yarn. The colors were so soft and wintery - so I went with the winter theme and created this snowman card. This was also made for the Stamp Something challenge - where this week's challenge was to create something with snow. So here is the snowman/snowmen/snowpeople card that I had fun making: 

I stamped the snowmen, colored in the scarves with Kristina's colors and then cut out the snowmen image and then applied liquid glaze (its hard to see in this pic). The snowflakes I punched out with photo paper - its kinda cool because it gives it this sheen and nice texture....Its funny in a way to look at this card with the sentiment: "Let it snow" because I made this card before our snowstorm here started. Now, when I look outside what I see is a blur of blowing snow and howling winds - wow! its amazing how quickly it went from freezing rain to blowing snow! Talk about winter weather ! 

Well, I am off to make some hot hearty soup for lunch - hope you are all staying warm!

Paper Craft Planet Sketch Challenge!

Hi Everyone,

You might have heard that Pluto is not considered a planet anymore (what's up with that??!!) But don't worry - there is a new Planet in town that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better: it is called Paper Craft Planet and it is the creation of Susanna Boyd of Card of the Week. Susanna does such an amazing service to the paper crafting community in her site Card of the Week - because she goes through hundreds of blogs and even more posts and puts it all together in her site - its is such a great way to see what amazing things people have made and are up to.

In that same way, Paper Craft Planet takes this to a whole new interactive networking level and is an online community for papercrafters that is filled with familiar faces, a chance to meet new friends and is an amazing new way to draw inspiration from each other, share photos, videos tutorials to all things paper crafted.

In one week, the number of people who have joined has jumped from 500 members to 2500!!!! There are numerous Stamp Companies that have created groups and are doing fun give aways and challenges - You have to check it out and it is so easy to join and get started in the fun - click here to get started (if you haven't already) !!!

This week, Susanna is hosting a sketch challenge - (below is her fun sketch). I made two cards for this challenge.


The first draws its color inspiration from the lovely ladies at the Color Throwdown.

This week's colors were Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Pale Plum.

The center flowers are from Handmade Heart (felt flowers) and are layered on a scallop punch and a 2"punch on dimensionals. The lavendar buttons race to outerskirts of the circle, which are followed by an outline of liquid pearl dots.


The ribbon is from Offray, the cardstock from the Paper Company. The bottom edge is corner rounded as are the dies of the images. I threaded a ribbon through the center and added a little chocolate button. The little thank you tag was hand written and was punched out from a Fiskars Tag punch and then adhered onto the cardstock.

The second card draws inspiration from the lovely ladies at the OCC (Our Creative Corner) - where the challenge this week was to draw inspiration from a holly inspired Martha stewart cupcake. Well, I just can't pass up a cupcake challenge - and Taylor is the guest designer, so I had to play! The card for this week's challenge uses her new stamps from the Stamp a Sweet Impression line (this reindeer cupcake is from the Home Sweet Home set).


paper pieced the reindeer and put a little red sequin as the cherry/nose and red stickles for the glow lines. The Icut ovet the larger circles with CM cutting system. The papers are from the Paper Company and DCWV. I added some cotton uff dots as snow, embossed the sentiment Let it Snow in white RP and then added some white liquid pearl dots to one side of the cirlce. The scalloped edge of the circle is from a mini scalloped punch from Martha. The center circle is raised up on dimensionals and for a little touch, I added an ornament to the sweet little reindeer's nose.
