A Best Wishes Blog Hop for Our dear Melanie!

Good Evening Everyone, 

It is with a sad heart :( that we at Paper Craft Planet Design Team says goodbye to one of our Super Novas - Melanie Muenchinger. Melanie has been part of the Design Team since Paper Craft Planet was created and she is one of my stamping idols and an amazing source of inspiration and creativity. With mounting family and designing commitments, she needs to scale back on her other teams to focus on illustrating for Gina K Designs.   But since this is not really “goodbye”, the PCP ladies are throwing a little going away "Best Wishes" bash in the form of a blog hop today featuring  two sets designed by Melanie:  "A Year of Leaves” or“School, Sports, Spirit!”  

And it wouldn't be a party without some party favors right? Well, Gina K is sponsoring a challenge this week on Paper Craft Planet with a chance to win one of Melanie’s newest sets! Upload a new project you create with a "Best Wishes" or  good luck theme to the PCP gallery by Monday night 10PM EST, with the tag GKDBW.  (Here is a tutorial on adding pictures to the gallery, if you need it.)

I used Lynn's sketch this week over at PCP for this card (SK090509) and realized after I made it that it didn't really follow the sketch afterall... lol! sorry Lynn - I can't follow directions :)

I absolutely love this stamp set - and the sentiments that Melanie has created to go with these beautiful leaves that she has illustrated are simply amazing -they go right to the heart! So I created a few more for tonight's little part-aaay!

The sentiment in this card reads: "What the Caterpillar calls the end of the World, the Master calls a Butterfly..." how absolutely beautiful! Love that sentiment! I used the SCS sketch this week for this card - and changed it up also... what is it about not following sketches and me?

Here is one more card - I just loved the sentiment which reads: The Fall of a Leaf is a Whisper to the Living. How beautiful is that sentiment... love it! And since I can't follow directions with sketches - I decided to not use one for this card - lol!

With the Right Accessories... I can do Anything!

Good Morning Everyone!

I have to say that I just love this craft stamp designed by the artist Tara Reed that I got from JanLynn - it is called the Right Accessories - and its on sale right now! Who doesn't love a good sale!!! I know I do! I couldn't wait to use it :) 

And I couldn't wait to play along with the uber talented girls at the Color Throwdown! Its been too long and I don't know how one week is blurring into the next these days! I was also wanting to use the sketch for at the Saturday Sketch at PaperCraft Planet. This week Jessica Flick is our hostess with the mostess and I was excited to put everything together :)

I used up papers from my scrap stash - yay! Even though, I am using it up - its still ridiculously full! And also some Basic Grey papers for accent. I threw in a fancy button that I have had stashed and a pearl for the purse :) I stamped it on the turquoise and and saffronish colored papers and then paper pieced it together - and use an xacto knife for the little details :) around the handle of the purse and then popped it on dimensionals - the ribbon - is also from stash :) yay!

I had a lot of fun making this card! Also because I love the sentiment - have you ever felt that way? Sometimes just wearing a hot pair of heels suddenly can make you walk with a bounce of joy :) Hope you have a chance to play along with these delicious colors and with this fun sketch!!!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #29 - To Catch a Thief

Welcome to our 29th Challenge - where this week we are featuring the 1955 Oscar winning movie starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelley - To Catch a Thief. This beautiful movie was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and is a beautiful blend of mystery, intrigue, humour, wit and of course romance. It won an Oscar for best cinematography.

First of all - there are so many things about this movie that I love and was inspired by that its hard to find one thing to make a card from - and having said that - as soon as I saw the golden ball gown at the end of the movie - I knew I wanted to make a card inspired by that dress! Grace Kelley is just stunning in this movie - her outfits are just gorgeous and flowy and beautiful! I remember watching this movie a long long time ago and just admiring her every move and that her name Grace was so true to her form - she really epitomizes Grace itself! I was just blown away by her golden gown at the end of the movie at the ball - wow - what a dress - I loved the butterflies (also golden) along her dress - and so I created my card - inspired by the golden dress at the end.

The requirement this week was to have fun with layers -- I was originally going to layer strips of ribbon - but that didn't look quite right - and then I thought that I could layer strips of paper - but that suddenly became rather bulky - so I just adhered them close to each other and tried to create a V shape of the dress the folded layers of the gold cloth. The top stamped tiles represent more the bling from the jewelry and I don't know if you can see it in this picture - but there is a butterfly in her hair and also butterflies along side her dress... that was my inspiration for the butterfly on my card. The sentiment that I chose was - What would I do without you. **** Spoiler alert In the last scene of the movie - Grace Kelly asks Cary Grant - what he would have done without her help and he acknowledges that he needed her assistance more than he realized. I love that there are so many parts of the dialouge that are extempor - and the wit between the characters just tickles me!

KW Color Inspriation #44 - A Chocolate Friendship

Good Morning Everyone,

I am so happy that to be able to do Kristina Werner's color challenge today! I haven't been able to play along in the last ones because of work.

I just absolutely LOVEd these colors that she picked for her inspiration and I totally LOVE the picture behind her inspiration (she took i from a children's store) - so sweet!

As soon as I saw that chocolate chip was on of the colors for this week, I had to make a card with chocolate! I used Lori Techler's awesome sketch for this week's sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet:

I made this card for a special friend of mine who I totally adore but haven't seen in a long time. I saw her the other day and it felt so good to hang out and talk and laugh - so I made her a little card to tell her how much I adore her :) One of my most favorite memories of her and I were when we lived in Switzerland for a little bit - we completely were head and heels in love with their chocolate.... One of my favorite memories is her a dipping an orange chocolate slice (something like this picture) into a jar of Nutella!

How is your Saturday going? Any special plans? Unfortunately, all my plans involve me and the laundry machine and 4-5 loads of laundry - not a very fun way to spend Saturday - but I suppose an important one so that we can have clean clothes next week :) lol :) Our wee ones have a second round of the cough - ugh! CanNOT wait for spring - hope all of you are happy and healthy!!!
