Mojo Color Throwdown: Dance in the Rain

Good Morning Everyone,

Are you so excited for Friday as I am - this week has been swirling with intensity and activity as the kids are full fledged into school and the routine of the lazy days of summer suddenly has gotten discarded to the high paced schedule of school and after-school activities. I have been wanting to play along with the gorgeous colors from Swatch #109 from the lovely ladies at the Color Throwdown (I {heart} these cheery bright colors) and couldn't wait to play along with the lovely sketch #155 from Julee Tilman over at the Mojo Monday blog. Don't you love it when everyone goes to bed early and you have some crafting time carved out of the blissful silence :)))

I love these cheery colors and wanted to make a cheery card :) So I used one of my new fave Verve sets: Blue Skies from Verve Stamps for this card. This little notebook stamp just is SO beyond cute and the butterflies are simply so gorgeous - I copic-fied them and gave them a little glaze and added a little dew drop to the center and on the bottom I added a little trail of bling in the pink and yellows of the color challenge:

Here is a close up of the sentiment - isn't this sentiment so inspiring: "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." I couldn't resist adding some liquid pearls - trust me, I did try to not add them - but then, I couldn't hold back :))

Monday Morning Musings....

Good Morning Everyone,

We just had a lovely weekend hanging out with family and friends and eating a ton of cake - for which now I am congested and bloated... ugh! Serves me right for adopting a total "YES" policy on eating everything sweet... I think that last truffle did me in... but it did me in so sweetly!!! LOL! I came home on Friday evening to these beautiful flowers waiting outside my door from my sweet friend Brooke (my fellow Cinema Sister) - I couldn't believe it - I had just talked to her earlier that day and had no idea of anything like this arriving - awwww - it felt like she was there herself giving me a hug!!!! I love that the vase is green (my fave color) and that the ribbon was polka dotted (my liquid pearl dot obsession) and the flowers were so bright and jewel toned - my favorite color palate!!! She told all of these details to the flower store in town and they created this beautiful present for me :)

These flowers smelled amazing! And they are sitting in our living room making me smile every time I walk in!!! Thank you dearest Brooke!!!

And thank you to all who posted birthday cards and sent greetings - Thank you dearest Radha Didi for everything and all your beautiful presents!!! This birthday has really been the best ever - and I feel so utterly grateful from the bottom of my heart to have such amazing and loving friends!!! You ROCK! I love that this weekend was a 3 day weekend for Labor Day and so I had an extra chance to clean up my stamp corner - so I thought I would take a picture of it while it was still clean - cause I know that it will not stay this clean for long!!!!

I always DROOL when I see so many gorgeous stamp rooms - decorated so nicely with gorgeous furniture and tons of crafting products and yumminess!!! There are so many oooo's and aaaahhh's and I always wish I had my own room - but we just don't have the space in our little place for that - so I get a corner in our bedroom... that is sneakily taking up more of our bedroom slowly :)

My DH has been AWESOME about the fact that our bedroom can at times become a tornado - I should get some caution tape and tape around it so that there can be a path to walk around the bedroom to where he can get to his dresser :). I wish my little corner was more "Martha" but I am waiting for us to move into a bigger house where I can have my own room and I can really decorate my space nicely - in the meantime - I tried to put as much "green" color around me - it always makes me happy :)

There is not that room for storage and the downside of that is that I can't buy too much stuff (which is the upside for my DH) but the upside for me is that I have to use what I have because there isn't that much space to store it. My computer is always next to me when I craft so that I can watch a movie and make a card - part of the reason that it takes me forever! to create one card!! But I love sitting down at my little corner in the evening after the wee ones go to bed and creating a card :)

Anyhow - thanks for letting me ramble on a bit and share some pictures! I hope that you are enjoying your Monday and that your week is off to a great start!!!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #94: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

First of all - A HUGE thank you to everyone for their beautiful birthday wishes and cards - you guys completely surprised me and I can't even begin to thank you for making my birthday so special! I am so sorry to post my Cinema Saturday post on a sunday - but it was so much fun to take a day off of blogging and just eat cake and hang out with my wee ones the whole time :))) As for which movie we are doing this week, a big highfive to Nancy K. for guessing that today's movie might have a little Johnny Depp flavor to it :))) Ha! You know us toooo well! I am not a scary movie kinda girl, but am willing to watch anything that has Johnny Depp in it :)

Welcome Everyone to our 94th Cinema Saturday challenge where every week we pick a different movie and then create a card by drawing inspiration from that movie. This week we are marking the change of seasons as summer closes and fall leaves appear with featuring the movie from 1999:Sleepy Hollow (starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci). This Oscar winning movie (for Best Art Direction) captures the Legend of Sleepy Hollow with a Tim Burton feel to it - no one can take you into a different realm or put an alternate spin on reality quite like Tim Burton! You can read the whole plot summary here. The challenge requirement for this movie is to use a Halloween tree in your creation - Sleepy Hollow is full of woods - so we thought it would be fun to use the Halloween tree element in our challenge requirement today.

The main thing that I wanted to create in the card was a feeling of the mist, and dark woods of Sleepy Hollow where the Headless Horseman rides - I wish I could have figured out how to add wispy white mists without smearing the card. I stamped and embossed the trees on a metallic silver paper and the bottom and top part of the card use black shimmery chunky glitter paper:

Stamps: The tree is from the Frightful Night stamp set and the sentiment is from the Trick or Sweet stamp set from Taylored Expressions

Ink: Stazon Black, VersaMark, Clear EP, Stazon White

Accessories: embossing gun, clear EP, Adirondacks liquid pearls (chili pepper), wave cutter from CM, circle punch, white with black dot ribbon and dimensionals

I LOVE Johnny Depp in this movie - really - he is SO Tim Burtonesque and brings a whole other dimension to how he plays and portrays Ichabod Crane. And Kristinia Ricci (wow! she is so blonde!) really shows the depth of her acting skills. I hope that you enjoy creating a card to this movie! The crispness of fall is in the air and I am so excited to get out our sweaters and go for some hikes (but definitely NOT in woods like the ones from Sleepy Hollow - LOL!!)

Release Day: Taylored Expressions is 2 !!!!!!!

Yesterday I created a little door hanger for Halloween using these stamps and today I couldn't wait to create more - so I thought that it would be fun to create a clothesline Halloween card - I stamped and paper pieced the clothes (I am imagining that a little cutie witch washed all her Halloween wear and was drying it out as she got ready for a Halloween party :) and then using one of the stamps from the Borderlicious stamp set - I created the clothesline card below

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks - Day3:- Hangin' Out: Wicked Wardrobe

HI Everyone!!!

Welcome to Day 3 of the Partaaaaay over at Taylored Expressions, where today we are showing off some fun and spooky Halloween stamp sets called: Hangin' Out: Wicked Wardrobe and Fright Night Favors stamp set using the wonderful Fright Night Project Pantry kit!!! Taylor is also going to be releasing a whole lot of new Dies and all kinds of supplies to create all of your own Halloween Favors to give out! These awesome stamp sets were designed by the AMAZING Nancy McKinney!!! These papers are simply awesome and I love how they match so nicely with these stamp sets!!! Today half of the Baker's Dozen is going to feature one set, while the other half features the other half! I was so excited to use the Hangin' Out: Wicked Wardrobe stamp set for my project today - this stamp set continues the theme of previously released Hangin' Out stamp sets (including Hangin' Out and Hangin' Out: At the Beach).

When I was trying to figure out what project to make with my Hangin' Out: Wicked Wardrobe set, I thought of the name: Hangin' Out and thought it would be fun to create a little hanging sign for our front door for Halloween! Here is what it looks like hanging on our door:

The Hangin' Out: Wicked Wardrobe stamp set has 22 stamps - and let me tell you - it has EVERYTHING you could possibly want - pumpkins, ghosts, brooms, lanterns, and awesome sentiments! Here is a picture of the first part of the top panel (the only thing that isn't part of the Fright Night Project Pantry kit are the thickers - but you can check out all the awesome Thickers at the Taylored Expressions Store (which are on sale!!! woot!)

I love this lantern and and the fact that you can mix and match all the stamps and use the same pole on the lantern to create the clothesline in the next panel. I LOVE all the different clothes in this stamp set - and created this little clothesline with all the clothes hangin' out :)

And for the last panel I created this with this awesome sentiment and added a little button from the Fright Night Project Pantry Kit:

Here is a picture of all the bottom panels together - aren't those pumpkins and ghost and kitty cat SO cute?!!! Love it!

Guest Designer for the PLay Date Cafe #45!! - Best Day Ever

Hi Everyone,

Can you believe its September? I sure cannot - this year is flying by!! Well today, I have some exciting news - Julie Murray who heads the wonderful color challenge blog called the Play Date Cafe - asked me to be the guest designer for the color challenge this week!! She is so talented as are all the members of her design team - and it is such an honor to be able to play with these ladies this week!!

I adore this gorgeous color combination that Julie created this week for PDCC#45 - totally right up my alley with all the pink and orange goodness - wowie wow!!! I couldn't wait to play and get really inky :)) I pulled out one of my favorite sets from Verve stamps called Great Friend and inked up the flowers in the card from this beautiful set. I colored them pink and purple with copics and then added a glaze to them. The sentiment is from the Framed Wishes stamp set and I added a few little sprigs of leaves from the Dream Big stamp set for just a little touch of dimension:

I added a little wave of bling that matched these colors and a little butterfly at the top of the sentiment and then finished it with a little bit of ribbon and of course - my favorite embellishment: liquid pearls :)))))))

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks - Day 2 - Belated Birthday A La Carte

Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome to Day 2 of the Party over at Taylored Expressions as all of the Baker's Dozen continue the paaartaaaay with some more awesome sneak peeks - today we are featuring some MUST HAVE birthday images that are beyond practical Taylor will be releasing a ton of new stamp images with coordinating sentiments that are perfect to create belated birthday wishes!!! These stamp images were the brilliant concept of Jami Sibley - and I am so glad to have these particular stamps because - Let me tell you - I am the worst when it comes to mailing out a card/package (as some of you already know :))) and I am in love with every single one of the adorable Belated Birthday A La Carte stamps that helps to create the perfect birthday card!!!

There are 7 Belated Birthday A La Carte stamp images that Taylor will be releasing on Friday - and the lovely thing is that you can pick and choose which ones you would like to purchase individually - although - its hard to pick just one ;) ! I couldn't wait to create a card using the Belated Birthday: Stand Out stamp set using the ingredients from the Make A Wish Project Pantry kit that is my favorite birthday card ingredients set - isn't the sentiment hilarious!!! :) Love it!

***Also on the right side - the little white faux stitching is part of an awesome stamp set that Taylor will also be releasing on Friday called Borderlicious! LOVE that you can just stamp out a quick border!

I couldn't stop - but had to create another belated birthday greetings car using THE cutest ducks evah - called Belated Birthday: Ducks in a Row - I LOVE seriously love this sentiment (and although I hope that one day I will get my ducks in a row - I seriously don't think that day will happen anytime soon! ;) The top part of the card is also a border that is part of the Borderlicious stamp set -

After I made this card - I thought it would be fun to create a little birthday card holder and so I busted out my brand spankin' new Cinch from Taylored Expressions - woo-hoo!!! I cannot even tell you HOW awesome this little machine is - seriously - it really IS a cinch!!! You can check out this awesome How-To Video that Taylor made on how to use the Cinch (which is what I was watching a couple of times last night as I finally took it out of the box! :) I couldn't believe how easy it was to create this 6x6 Birthday holder notebook:

Here is a closer picture of the notebook (I decorated the front of the card using the Make a Wish stamp set that we sneak peeked yesterday) along with the Make a Wish Project Pantry Kit:

I created 8 pages with pockets to hold some birthday cards. To make the page pockets - I took a page of 8.5 x 11" and scored it at 6 and 8.5 and then cut it lengthwise at 6 inches, then I folded up the bottom part and attached some brads/eyelets to keep it in place. Here is a picture of the first page:

I stamped the bottom of the page with the AWESOME Bubbles BIG background - isn't this stamp set awesome - I stamped down the bubbles and then colored in a few of the bubbles on the page. Here is the second page of the notebook:

I love that this notebook can hold my birthday cards and also inspire me to send them out on time - because they are already made to be Belated!!! LOLOL!!! I can't wait to check out all the amazing creations that the Baker's Dozen has come up with today with all of these wonderful Belated Birthday A La Carte images!!!!!
