Verve Diva Inspiration - July - Mojo Monday 300!

I can't believe that there have been 300 Mojo Monday sketches!! I was always attracted to Julee's gorgeous visually beautiful sketches - the definitely got my mojo flowing when I was stuck in a rut! I think I started playing almost 5 years ago (say whaaa/?!) when there were around 40 sketches! I loved playing along with Julee, loved seeing and playing with all the amazing Verve stamps and was beyond FLOORED when sweet Julee asked me to join the Verve Design team - seriously squealed and then went into stunned silence of awe and blissful happiness!!! 

Thank you Julee for everything - so so so many congratulations to you on so so so much! On your amazing company, on your amazing gorgeous creations, on your beautiful family and the wonderful Verve family that you have nourished and inspired for so many wonderful years!! I absolutely adore you!! 

For my card today, I decided to use one of my favorite stamp sets Let It Shine!!! Julee asked us along time ago what we would like to see as a stamp sets - so I asked her for sunshine stamps!! yay! I love sunshine (hence my blog title :) - anything sunny just makes me happy :) and I simply loved her sunny creation in her Let it Shine stamp set - so I had to use this set to celebrate the 300th Mojo Monday Sketch! Here is my take on the sketch:

I used two of the sunny stamps to create the sun and then added a button to the center with a wee bit of twine :) and then created a mat with some vellum, added some little cut outs from the DP and a banner from the Pennant Banner Trim   - here is a closer peek:

Mojo Monday #229 - OH BOY!

Hi Everyone,

Today we are surprising Julee Tillman, creator of Verve Stamps, with a little virtual blog hop baby shower as she and her wonderful husband Mark as they begin this new adventure! If you came from sweet Charmanie Ikach's blog you are in the right place - or if you happen to start here you can begin with Julee and Teresa's blog for the baby happy party!

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch #229 designed by Mary Fish for my card today and loved the panels in the back. I alternated pieces of paper from MME Lime Twist: Fly a Kite and used the super cute giraffe from the To the Moon stamp set. I wanted to create little twin giraffes for Julee's twin boys and colored them in a fun blue and green and framed them with the frame from the Sweet Treats stamp set inked in red. I cut the center part of the frame out and then popped the giraffes out through them and finished it with a sweet sentiment: Oh BOY! I love these two giraffes (who I have named Legolas and Aragorn in honor of Julee's husband Mark who did mention a liking for Lord of the Rings)

Julee and Mark, I am so excited for your new adventure and wish you every joy in the world as you welcome your sweet twin boys! They are so lucky to be blessed with parents like you and I can't wait to see their sweet faces soon! 

I remember people always told me to enjoy these precious moments because they go so fast - at the time they told me that, I felt so sleep deprived and exhausted that I couldn't imagine it going fast at all - but it really is true - suddenly they are wearing baby clothes and getting new teeth (for which I spent sleepless nights patting my babies as the little tooth was coming in) - and suddenly they are losing their baby teeth and growing like weeds and I am trying to keep up with them!!! I feel so grateful for my little wee ones - they continuously teach me how to be a better person - they teach me patience, flexibility and teach me how to love with every fiber of my being.

Each age has its own joys and its own challenges - there is one guarantee - you will never be bored! Enjoy each precious moment - and take lots of pictures and more video - they love seeing themselves when the were little!! I wish I could be there in person to hug you - but I hope you feel my love and excitement and happy wishes for you across the miles :)

Mojo Color Throwdown: Dance in the Rain

Good Morning Everyone,

Are you so excited for Friday as I am - this week has been swirling with intensity and activity as the kids are full fledged into school and the routine of the lazy days of summer suddenly has gotten discarded to the high paced schedule of school and after-school activities. I have been wanting to play along with the gorgeous colors from Swatch #109 from the lovely ladies at the Color Throwdown (I {heart} these cheery bright colors) and couldn't wait to play along with the lovely sketch #155 from Julee Tilman over at the Mojo Monday blog. Don't you love it when everyone goes to bed early and you have some crafting time carved out of the blissful silence :)))

I love these cheery colors and wanted to make a cheery card :) So I used one of my new fave Verve sets: Blue Skies from Verve Stamps for this card. This little notebook stamp just is SO beyond cute and the butterflies are simply so gorgeous - I copic-fied them and gave them a little glaze and added a little dew drop to the center and on the bottom I added a little trail of bling in the pink and yellows of the color challenge:

Here is a close up of the sentiment - isn't this sentiment so inspiring: "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." I couldn't resist adding some liquid pearls - trust me, I did try to not add them - but then, I couldn't hold back :))

Harvest Blessings and more Verve Projects :)

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Hope your week has been going awesome! Our week has been so busy - it seems like every night I come home exhausted and my mojo is gone - and last night, I was in bed super early, but couldn't sleep (so I decided to come and play :) I just got this new yummy BG (Indian Summer) and couldn't wait to play :) There is just something about these colors that makes me want to crunch some leaves, wear a scarf and go for a walk in the woods, and have a cup of tea after coming home. I absolutely love love love fall - and these papers and this stamp that I used just make my heart so happy :) I used Julee's seriously mojo-licious sketch from this week (those scallops had me swooning I tell ya'!) and used one of my favorite sentiments from the new Verve release Harvest Blessings.

Verve-alicious Tea Tray Project Set

Good Morning Everyone!!! Happy 9-9-09!

Today I am so excited to be part of the Verve Project Parade where the theme is Hostess Gifts!  A HUGE thank you to Shannan Tuebner for all her help this morning with getting pictures up  (you are a life saver and you totally ROCK chica!) For my project today, I decided to use one of my fave sets -  I love the Cup of Life Verve stamp set and so created a little Tea Tray full little Tea Goodies. This tray has Tea Leaves in a little tin can ( I love tin cans!), tea cup with strainer for drinking tea at home, a travel mug French press for drinking tea on the go and a set of notecards (I was going to include some cookies - but I ate all of those! lol!) . Here is a picture of the Tea Tray Gift Set:

Here is a picture of the notecard set - it comes with 5 cards that say "Just for You" with a matching envelopes. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch #103 for the card: 

I also used a tag punch to create little tags for the French Press, cup and tea tin: It was so fun and easy and most of all made something very simple feel yummy :) Here are some pictures of the tags that I created:

The same tag goes for the cup. And lastly - one of my fave things to do is to take some unfinished wood and paint and stamp on it. After finishing - you just add a clear lacquer (I chose a gloss finish) and it protects the wood. Here is a picture of the tea tray - I painted it goosefeather, burnt umber and azul blue and then used the Bountiful backgounds polkadots, the sentiment from Delightful and Delicious and the teacups from a Cup of Life to create this little tray:

A Bevy of Challenge Cards - well - okay just 4 :)

This week has been flying by - I can't even handle it! And speaking of "handling this" - I love the slogan from the Color Throwdown  ladies: Can You Handle this!?! I loved these soft colors that we have for this week's  color challenge- aren't these colors just so sweet! I immediately thought of a baby card ....

and so I made two - one for a boy and one for a girl - one of each just in case I need a quick card - and these were super quick cards - literally 7 minutes each - crazy! I used the sketch that PaperCraftPlanet is featuring this week.

Mojo Monday - Summer Cards :)

Good Evening Everyone,

I am on vacay and am sorry that if I haven't visited everyone's blogs - but I promise I will. I brought a few sets of stamps and some Key Ingredients packs (I had too! It felt weird to not pack that in too :) and of course as soon as I saw Julee's Mojo Monday sketch number 96- I LOVED it!!! and so here are two quick cards that I made using the same paper pack which is the Beach Bum Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions and using the Beach Bum stamp set with this same sketch.

I absolutely adore adore adore this Key Ingredient set (cardstock with 20 sheets!!! of coordinating DP, ribbon, stickers and bling!!!) because of its bright summery papers, ribbon and bling! Here is one of my fave images: Cuppie sunning himself (lol!) - everything is paper pieced with the different papers in the kit. We mailed this card out to our niece who is at camp - and we all signed this card for her - I hope that she likes it - I remember getting mail when I was a little one and feeling excited to open it ... and I still get that way because all I seem to get are bills.... not very "fun in the sun" :)

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #40 - National Treasure (1 or 2)

Hi Everyone, 

Today marks the 40th Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - where every week, we pick a movie and then create a card/layout etc. based on some inspiration from the movie. This week's movie pick is National Treasure starring Nicolas Cage (you can either one or two for the challenge). And the challenge requirement this week is to create something with the theme of treasure - it can be anything really from something or about someone that you treasure - to maybe even some real treasure - how ever you interpret it! 

For my card this week - I made an anniversary card for one of our friends (Julie if you are reading this - just act surprised tonight :) lol! I used Julee's fantabulous Mojo Monday Sketch # 94 this week and used kinda neutral colors. I wanted to create a treasure box of sorts - but it ended up being more like an accordian folder(  I loved seeing Norine's purse box and Adela's Accordian creations  and so used their pieces as inspiration for a little accordian action on my card :) that opens up to reveal two scrolls (like the Declaration of Independence from National Treasure 1) that have the messages: "treasure each day" and "treasure each other" on it. Which is something that I personally want to focus on - as I feel these days going by so fast! Here is the front view of the card:

above are the two scrolls that are tied up in some embroidery string and when they are opened up show the messages:   "treasure each day" and "treasure each other" on it.

KW Color Challenge - Believe in Your Dreams

Good Morning Everyone,

I was so psyched to have a chance in Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #54 this week - look at these awesome colors together! It looks like summer fun! She got the inspiration for these colors from a fabric for a carseat from her friend Adrienne- wow - wish we had a fun carseat covers like this - instead of Graco gray!

For this card - I used Julee's Sketch challenge #90 and her new stamps for this card. I love this set and paper pieced the balloons with different DP. I tried to keep most of the card white and just have bits of color - can you believe its a card sans liquid pearls? I tried to keep it clean and simple. There is some crystal effects on the baskets of the balloons and also some on the clouds along with some coarse glitter.

I had a lot of fun making this card and using up some DP from my stash that seems to actually increase in size and not decrease no matter how much I try to use it up!

Taylored Expressions - Day Two of Sneak Peeks!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

Its Day 2 of Sneak Peeks over at Taylored Expressions and can I just tell you that I am in cupcake wonderland!! Today's sneak peeks come from the set called For the Love of Cupcakes that will be available tomorrow June 5, at 8am PST over at the Taylored Expressions store! Seriously - this set is beyond sweet - I had so much fun creating some samples - it was hard to stop :)

Along with this sweet stamp set - Taylor is releasing a coordinating Cupcake Key Ingredients set! The Key Ingredients will include cardstock, coordinating designer paper, brads, glitter, ribbon - all in one place and there are so many quantities of each included that it is easy to make a ton of cards from one Key Ingredients packet!

1. Blingy Cupcake Birthday Cards
I love all the different cupcake options in this set and couldn't wait to ink them up! I used a previous sketch from Taylor to create this little birthday card - I love the sentiment: "Wishing you a birthday filled with cupcakes!" Who doesn't want that!!! The little cupcake brad in the bottom is so delcious :) - I added a little bling and some liquid pearls (I can't help it - I think i am addicted to them :) and finished the card of with a bow from the Key Ingredients set. All the pieces of the card are paper pieced from papers from the Key Ingredients package.


I love the candle stamp in this set - and had fun stamping and cutting them out and adherring them onto the card. I made a second card - simillar to this one using the same elements - and used Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch #89 for this card. I love the brads that come with the Cupcake Key Ingredients - the little ice-cream brad on the bottom is my favorite :)

Here is a close up of the plate of cupcakes - I added a little crystal effect to create a glass like look - here is a closer peek at that:



2. Quick Birthday Card Set:

Have you ever needed just a quick birthday card? I always feel like I can never keep my birthday card drawer fully stocked and June is a busy month for us - full of birthdays and so I needed to renew my birthday card supply. I decided to make a little set of birthday cards using the Key Ingredients papers and For the Love of Cupcake Stamps. I loved my fellow DT member Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch and so I used the same sketch to make all 4 of these cards.

I love the papers in this Cupcake Key Ingredients set - they are so fun and festive and make creating cards so easy. Here is the first two cards in this set of four:




for a little embellishment, I created little quilled circles and filled it with a little rhinestone bling - here is a close up peek of the little quilled embellies:


3. Happy 29th Cupcake Birhday

Today is my friend's birthday (Happy Birthday D!!!) She is turning 29 (again ;) and I made a her a little yummy birthday card filled with stacked cupcakes! I really LOVE this particular cupcake image - it is just so delcious! I used Taylor's Friday Cupcake Challenge #70 for this card:

I used some liquid pearls for the frosting on the cupcakes and then covered it with liquid glass.

On the inside of the card I stacked up some cupcakes (paper pieced and liquid pearls for frosting - (totally inspired by Laurie Schmidlin's stacked birthday presents from her sneak peek yesterday) and stamped the number 29 and adhered it on top (I LOVE that there are numbered candle stamps in this set!!!).



4. Cupcake Die Cut Card:
Taylor has these awesome Cupcake Die Cuts that are so versatile in what you can create with them. You could create one to hold a gift certificate or even just a birthday message. I ran the die cut through with a sprinkled embossing folder and then on the inside created a happy birthday message using the word cupcake from a set of glittered sheets (also I sprinkled some glitter on the cherry). I LOVE how quick this was to assemble!

You could write a message on the bottom or even add a little gift card to it and it becomes both a card and a present :)

I love all the options that are included in this set and the Cupcake Key Ingredients - I have so much more supplies left over to make some more cupcake yumminess!
