Cinema Saturday #26 - My Fair Lady

Welcome Everyone to the 26th Challenge from Cinema Saturday, where we pick a movie each week from which to draw inspiration in making a card, LO or altered item. This week, we have picked the classic movie: My Fair Lady, starring our beloved Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.

I feel like I know this movie like the back of my hand because I have watched it and sang along, day dreamed to it every since I was 12. My father bought me the complete set of Sound of Music and My Fair Lady (back in the day where it was VHS :) and I remember that was the biggest treat for me! I watched this movie EVERY day during the summer of 8th grade... I adored Eliza Do-little, had a mini crush on Freddie and dreamed about dancing with the prince (I had a HUGE crush on the prince...). I used to be able to recite the lines to the whole movie word for word... and loved singing in my completely off tune voice to the songs from the movie... :) I love every song: The Rain in Spain, With A Little Bit of Luck, Ordinary Man, I'm getting married in the morning and countlesssssssss other classic songs!!!!

But my most favorite and my most favorit-est scene ever is the song " I could have danced all night" and the scene is the Embassy Ball. When Eliza emerges wearing this incredible gown (I am always in awe - even now - of that moment!) I just love the jewelry of stones glittering around her neck, the crown in her hair and the sparkles in that ethereal gown of hers that seemed to flow as she glided in the ball! And when she danced with the prince... well that was just the crowning moment for me... (talk about every little girl's dream) and I was hooked and in love forever :)

So that's the theme that I decided to focus on was the Embassy Ball scene where she dances with the Prince. I used Kazan's lovely or "loverly"as Eliza Dolittle from My Fair Lady would say, sketch #23 from 2 Sketches 4 You. If you haven't tried one of their sketches - you really have to! I am always amazed by the creations that Laura and Kazan come up with as well as their amazing DT! The one thing that I really like about their sketch challenge - is that they layout the basic elements of the sketch and based on that you are free to let your imagination lead you! I like the open white space above the three elements of the sketch and thought I would fill it up with the bling trail of Eliza dancing with her prince sans tiara (couldn't fit it in).I added two metallic hearts at the bottom bordered with candy cane stickles for accents.

Card details:

Paper: Paper Company and stash
Ink: Martha Black
Stamps: HeartFelt Hits 1- by Gina K. designs
Accessories: ribbon, silver pen, oval cutter system from Creative Memories, Polysparkle EP, Versamark, Sentiment created in Word reads: I could have danced all night... from the instrumental music that is playing that as she is dancing with the prince.

Here is a link to the Youtube video of this scene where she first makes her real public apperence (I mean Ascott doesn't really count!) and is hoping not to be discovered as a common flower girl (isn't the prince yummy :).

Thank you so much for visiting!! Laura and Kazan will have a new sketch on Monday - so don't forget to check them out!

You can check out more details here to the Cinema Saturday Challenge of My Fair Lady!

Can't wait to see your beautiful creations!!!
Happy Saturday!!!

KW Color Inspriation #45 - Just Because (TECC59)

Did I mention earlier how happy I am that today is friday ?? So happy that I sat down and made my second card of the day, this time using Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #45 - which is to make a monochromatic card using the colors: Basic Black, Basic Gray and Whisper White. I haven't made a monochromatic card in awhile, so I was happy to jump into this challenge!

I used the same sketch from this morning's card to make this card, which is Taylor's Sketch #59  (i love Taylor's sketches!) and I also used Taylor's newest stamp set: Branching Out. , which as you probably know by now, I completely adore and LOVE!! had a lot of fun stamping and cutting and pasting... talk about stamp therapy! I don't know about you guys, but this week has been insane in the membrane (and now, that song is stuck in my head) anyhooo... I am so happy to be done with the work week and have some play time :)

Card details:
Sketch: TECC59
Paper: Beautiful handmade black tissue paper - sooo pretty and so thin - it was hard to cut it  - it was so pretty - but no use being so pretty stuck in my paper drawer :), white cardstock from stash, grey DP is from DCVW
Ink: Stazon Black
Accessories: Kaiser Pearl drops, black liquid pearls, stickles, copic C3 (my one and only, lol!), pearl button embellie, ribbon sheer from stash, corner rounder

So, who is this card for? My DH! I hope he likes it :) He has been such a trooper this week helping me out - and I just wanted to show him a little love :) Its so nice to make cards for him because he totally loves looking at them...and that makes everything so worth it!

I hope that all of you are having a wonderful friday and that it is full of fun, relaxation and laughter!

Thank you so much for visiting my little corner :)
Ciao for now,
Sankari :)

Black Butterfly card

Hello Everyone,
This is card quick quick quick (did I say quick?) card that I made for the Fabulous Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and for the color inspiration challenge hosted by the Amazing ladies at the Color Throwdown. And even though we are going on our 2nd summer roadtrip - I had to make a card first :) We are heading out of town in about --- oh - 3 hours - and I haven't packed = aie!!!
Why haven't you packed - you ask? well - first I had to do laundry and then I thought -I might as well make a card while I make a card - love Julee's Mojo Monday's and I love the Colors that are being thrown down - and to leave town and not make a card seemed wrong - so I HAD to make a card.....
But, the only thing is - I am not sure if I like how it turned out... this was made so quick - like less than 20 minutes - it would have been sooner - but I had to figure out which stamp I wanted and then I had to find it.... but anyhoo - what I was saying - is that it was so quick that it kinda surprised me - but I am still not sure about the end result - and since I have already cleaned up my scrap corner (it really is literally a corner :) I can't adjust things - and even if I wanted to adjust things - I have to pack -- which brings me to the conclusion that I need to finish my blatherings and just post this :)
If you made it this far in reading this - I thank you and ask you to pardon my early morning ramblings. We are off to Minneapolis today (!) and will be spending time with my in-laws and our friends up there - going to the CM convention, going up to the cabin by the lake and definitely walking around Lake Harriett :) Sooooo I can' wait - just hope the little ones do well on the road :) I  hope that all of you are doing well and are enjoying your thursdays :)
I will try to post some pics and some cards this weekend - so hope you come back for a visit :)
Alright - off to pack!

Thanks for coming over :)

Color Inspiration Challenge #14

Hi Everyone,
Its time for another awesome Kristina Werner: Color Inspiration Challenge. I really loved this challenge because I haven't really used this color scheme yet - and I have to say that it was the most fun that I have had making a card.

The five colors for the challenge were: Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Ruby Red and River Rock. Since we could opt out of the Ruby Red/River Rock, I chose to opt out of the River Rock.  I just loved the look of the monochromatic with a splash from the red spectrum.

Now first things first. I know, I know I know that this is NOT a practical card - in that it won't fit in your everyday envelope - but it was SO fun to make that, I just didn't want to focus on any practical issues :)

The black and gray cardstock is from my scrap pile. The DP is from me and my big ideas - I was going to use it for a scrapbook layout - but then thought that it would fit in with this challenge. The big beautiful butterfly is from Midwest Design and is made of dyed feathers with glitter. Its really soooo beautiful and lovely and makes the card so very unpractical but so very yummy :)  The metal ribbon charm is from Making Memories and the Gray/Silver ribbon is from Wrights (Casa Collection). The stamped sentiment is from Clear Stamps (Heidi Grace designs) and was stamped with Black Stazon Ink. I am not sure where the flowers are from - these were bought pre-blogging days, where I didn't keep the companies that made products.

I can't even tell you how much fun this particular group of colors were - I totally loved it and had a million different ideas. I am not sure if this is particularly sassy?, but I was just going for a BIG, different, FUN, bold look.... and it was definitely fun.

Hope all of you are well and are enjoying your almost weekends :)
Best wishes to all,
Sankari
