Happy Birthday Cupcake!

Hi Everyone,

There are so many birthday's in September that it is crazy - along with all the babies born this month, this  month is full of birthdays of some of my dear friends! I made this card for my friend using some of the awesomest set of birthday stamps from Taylored Expressions - the Build a Treat stamp set. I love the fun way to mix and match the tops and bottoms of the cupcakes - so much fun-ness!!! I wanted to keep this card really simple and try to do a CAS card. I embossed the background with the awesome Spooky Impression Plate from Taylored Expressions and sponged with some Rich Cocoa ink and added a line of liquid pearls around the edge:

Here is another view of the card from the side: I stamped the top of the cupcake and bottom of the cupcake and cut them out and popped them together with some dimensionals. I added the cupcake to the oval background and then used Labels 18 and the sweet Frame It Up 2 die from TE to layer it onto:

I love everything from Taylor's awesome store - and this last release was simply amazing - so perfect for all the September birthdays this month. I wish I had a week of just sitting at my craft desk and crafting away night and day - but instead I look forward to a weekend of laundry and dishes and cleaning - sigh!

Birthday BLog Hop for Nancy!!!

Hope you had a fantabulous weekend! There are a few posts going up this morning - the first one is a special one - this morning, there is a very special birthday blog hop in honor of the one and only amazing designer, mom, card maker, person: Nancy McKinney! Taylor asked Nancy to design for Taylored Expressions earlier this year - and Nancy has just spun out the most amazing magic with her beautiful designs - simply perfect! You can check out all of her beautiful stamp sets that she has designed for Taylored Expressions under the stamp line called: Whimsical Wishes (you can check them out here - the Whimsical Wishes stamp set are all have a burgundy strip running on the bottom of the stamp set.). So today in honor of Nancy's birthday, we are doing a bday blog hop!

Nancy has created soooo many beautiful images that it is hard to know which one to pick to created her brithday card - but I had to go with the stamp set entitled Beary Special (and also used the Beary Special Accessories set) because these sets are very special to Nancy's heart. When Taylor released this stamp set earlier this year in June - these two stamp all the proceeds of this set went to help the organization that is very dear to Nancy's heart called: The Hospital for Sick Children (also known as Sick Kids). On Nancy's blog - there is a link to how this hospital helped her son Henri. I adore these beautiful and adorable teddy bears and so I used this set and its accessories along with Taylor's sketch challenge for Friday (can't believe we are already on sketch 91!). I used the papers from the Sept. 20th Key Ingredients for this birthday card :)

I loved coloring in this sweet bear with my copics and then paper piecing his paws and the hat and the ballons (which were also touched with a little liquid glaze.

Eat Something Cute!

Can't believe its been a year! I remember the first time I saw Taylor's stamp set - especially this image below- I was in love!!!

There was just something magical and fun about these sweet stamps! So in honor of  the first birthday of the Taylored Expressions stamp line and  of her sweet stamp company - I had to make a card with the sweet image and sentiment that won my heart!!! And even more wonderful is to be part of Taylor's Baker's Dozen Design Team - which will be hosting party games and I will be hosting one of the challenges so stay tuned and I hope that you will play along!!! Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #45 - Sixteen Candles

Good Morning Everyone!!!! 

I am psyched to bring you the 45th Challenge from Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!!!! woo-hoo!!! Every Saturday we pick a movie from which to draw our inspiration from in creating a card, scrapbook layout, altered item etc. and this week's movie that we are featuring is the 80's classic movie: Sixteen Candles in honor of legendary director John Hughes who passed away at the age of only 59 last week. Joh  Hughes was also the director of 80's cult classics such as: The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science and Planes.Trains and Automobiles among others. This movie is a coming of age kind of story about the sixteenth birthday of the the character Molly Ringwald plays and also brings out highschool politics - highschool crushes - and all the highschool drama - along with a ton of hip 80's fashiion! Gotta love it!!!

Our challenge this week is to creat

e a birthday card with colors from the 80's!!!!

Okay - I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie - partly because I thought that the character of Jake Ryan was dreamy (did you know that the actor who played Jake Ryan, Michael Schoeffling now owns a woodmaking shop and creates handcrafted items!!!) and the other part because the very last scene still gives me tingles.... you know the scene where they lean into each other over a bday cake!  Well - for this challenge requirement - I wanted to do something FUN and 80's retro ish - and create a bday card with those fun and bright colors in mind. While I was blogging last night - I came across the store the Curiosity Shoppe thanks to SmilynStef's great inspiration challenge - and was simply tickled when I saw this picture in their store - it just looked like 80's colors to me - and so I used it as my inspiration for my Sixteen Candles 80's birthday card: The top right box reminds me of Molly Ringwald's hats in the movie.... wow - watching the movie and seeing all that 80's fashion is hilarious!!! I remember thinking HOW cool all of that was !!! lol!!!! Here is my card for the movie:

Accessories: Whirligig button, Kand Compnay bling, Martha stewart sun and scallop punc, circle punches from CM, eyelet, cropadile,  black, pink, yellow and blue glaze from Sakura, white signo gel pen, yellow bling from Martha Stewart, smiling face punch from stash.

This card is a little out of my box... but it was a blast to make!

I had so much fun making this card and the whole time I was watching the movie .... and still that last scene just gives me happy tingles :) LOVE it!!!

Everyday Display Board - Birthday Display Board

Hi Everyone,

I made this for my friend Caty's daughter Chosie, who just turned 13 a few days ago - I can't believe she is an official teenager now!!! 

This is an Everyday Display Board from Creative Memories (it is 18x18 and comes in Black and Chocolate too) and is magnetic (with little white magnets) that allows you to display pics, things to do, etc. and then be able to change it around - it also has a hanging element, although I like to put mine on a bookshelf to be displayed. If you are interested in one of these, check out my Creative Memories site. I love doing these display boards because you can change all the elements so easily. 

Inside the little brown pouch (its so sweet  - it has little blue butterflies on it), I made 13 little tags with ribbon - and on each tag was a wish for her birthday. I had so much fun making this birthday present for Chosie - it really made me so happy and fulfilled to make something special that she can hang in her room. 

I can't wait to make one for my parents - that is the next project.
