Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #66 -Clueless

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to the 66th Cinema Saturday Creative challenge!! Every week over at the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge blog, we pick a different movie from which we base as our inspiration for creating our cards. Well, this week we picked the movie: Clueless (1995). This movie is loosely based on Jane Austen's novel Emma, set in modern time (you can read more about the comparisons on this site ). Our challenge requirement for this movie was to use a touch of plaid (there are so many plaid outfits in this movie!).

I think one of my most favorite memories from watching this movie was remembering how popular it was to use the phrase "whatever", or "as if.." which kinda came out of this movie :)
I always thought that Alicia Sliverstone was just perfect for the role of Cher (which is really the role of Emma from Jane Austen). She has such a sweet heart and I just adored the way that her heart opened and she was able to see the bigger picture. I loved watching this movie again and seeing all of the fashions of '95 and just loved all of Cher's purses and accessories. So my inspiration was to create a gift set for my niece's birthday with a few essential fashion items (some make up, chocolate and lotions :) using the Carolina's awesome purse box template. I used Taylor's beautiful sketch for her 100th sketch celebration (can you believe that?! a 100!! wow!). I used the sketch on the "purse":

And here is the coordinating card: The sentiment and purses are from the Downtown Diva set, the label stamp set is from the Luxurious Labels stamp set - all from Taylored Expressions:

Here is the purse giftset: The sentiment is from the Sweet Indulgence stamp set. It fits a nugget box perfectly and I also added a little make up kit for my niece for her birthday :)
**** Notice that I didn't take a picture of the nugget box with some sweet treats in it - that would be because I ate it while making this project (hanging head down in shame! will have to get more to replenish her little bday present :)

Card Ingredients:
Paper: Bo Bunny and Bazzil
Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: spellbinders, bling, dimensionals, punches, eyelets, ribbon and ek success punch

I had so much fun creating this fun little purse for my niece (who isn't into the "girly" colors, so I had to create something that wasn't too pink - hope she likes this :). You can stop by the Cinema Saturday blog for more cinema inspired creations and the inspiration corner for more information and details on this movie challenge! Can't wait to see your cinema inspired creations! And stop by Taylor's blog to check out all the deets on her special sketch challenge celebration!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Big hugs!

October 20th Key Ingredients are Here!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!!

Today is the 20th of October and that means its time for another Key Ingredient's Challenge from Taylored Expressions. For those of you who are not familliar with these kits, every month, Taylor creates an awesome kit - full of Designer paper, coordinating cardstock, ribbon and embellishments - its such a great way to make cards - because everything you need is in one kit and now Taylored Expressions is now offering a monthly charge prgram - so that menas that instead of paying for all 3 or 6 month upfront, now their will be a charge every month on the 15th of each month of their subscription - so for example the 6 month program is $14.95 a month plus shipping! Now that is total YUMMINESS!

For the October 20, Key Ingredients challenge, we are so excited to work with some maya mist, chipboard and yummy papers!!! The DP is from the Cosmo Cricket line: Earth love and comes with coordinating Prism cardstock, coordinating ribbon, a ton of maya chipboard birdies and yummy Maya Mist (one tip is to make sure you tap the mister on your palm before spritzing the mist onto your project).

The challenge that Taylor has given us is to decorate our creations to give it a dimensional pop! So that could mean, liquid pearls (you know me - I LOVE dem liquid pearls :) lol!), real pearls, bling, chipboard etc. Anything that adds dimension to your creations! Today half of the Baker's Dozen is going to be feautring the elements from the October Key Ingredients - with some different projects from cards, to scrapbook ayouts to 3D items. I created a little 6x6 scrapbook layout of my daughter for this challenge:

Scrapbook page layout:
Paper: Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions
Stamps: Downtown Diva from Taylored Expressions
Ink: Memento Lilac
Accessories: dimensionals, liquid glaze pens from Sakura, Martha heart punches, Corner chomper, buttons from stash, EK success punch, bling from stash, Frame your Imagination Vertical Stand.

This kit comes with an awesome package of Maya Road birdies chipboard - and I loved using the chipboard that I misted with the Maya road mist (Avocado Metallic mist) which just made it glimmer and shimmer. I then covered it the wing with some of the DP and added some buttons and liquid pearls, faux stitching and ribbon. Here is a closer peek at the little chipboard birdie covered in glorious mist :)

My most favorite thing to do is to display these pages in the Frame Your Imagination vertical stand after I am done - (this is a 6 x 6 layout) - I love being able to display the pages out for everyone to see and not stick it inside a scrapbook (right away at least :) and most of all my children are SO happy to see themselves on the counter (and they show it to everyone who comes in :)

I absolutely love this month's Key Ingredients (of course, I say that every month!!! :) I think one of the reasons that I love Taylor's Key Ingredients is that its so much fun trying out new papers, embellishements etc, and everything is already laid out to coordinate - so it saves so much time and helps to create projects faster! To see more of this yummy Kit- Please check out what the rest of the DT created with this lovely kit!! I can't wait to go surfing:

Thanks for visiting my blog!!! Hope you are having a fabu Tuesday!!!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)

2 Sketches 4 You - Verve colored Happy Birthday Card

HI Again! :)

Are you tired of me yet?

2 posts in one day!!????!! I know - I don't know what has come over me!!  I came home a couple of hours ago and was soooo happy to be done this week - what a week it's been! I was so happy to be home, that I made a cup of chai and had a chance to sit at my craft table before the dinner rush starts (which it will in about 15 minutes - so I will type fast!!!)

I loved the color challenge that Julee has for her Verve color challenge for the April release and I love Kazan's Sketch #24 that she has created for the 2Sketches4You challenge blog. I love Laura and Kazan's sketch challenge and their DT is just amazing with the samples that they come up with each week! Talk about inspiration city! They are currently having a DT call for the summer group - and you can check out the details for the DT call here!

One of my dear friends is having a birthday party on Sunday and I wanted to make a birthday card for him... and I thought these colors were so perfect for a masculine card... and who doesn't like cupcakes for their birthday card??! But try as I might, I think my card ended up kinda girly and swirly... (I don't think I can ever realllllllly make a masculine card because it never really looks very .... hmm.. what's the word??..... pretty! lol!!)  Oh, well - I gave up trying to make it look masculine at one point and just had fun paper piecing my cupcakes! Well, I hope he likes it anyway...  :) (Will let you guys know how it goes on Monday :)

Card Details:
Paper: From scrap stash (the only thing that I know is that the blue paper is handmade)
Ink: Chocolate Chip! SU!, Martha brown
Accessories: liquid pearls, corner rounder, button from stash, blinged flowers
Technique: Paper piecing

Well, I hope you are all having a great start to your weekend! Okay.. off to get dinner started! Hope you are all doing well!!!

Thanks for visiting my little corner!!!
Ciao for now!

Mojo Monday#82 - Sweet Friends (Taylored Expressions)

Good Morning Everyone,

Its hard to believe how quickly this week is flying by - I don't know how it happens because when I turned around it was just sunday and here we are at Wednesday! I love Julee's sketch #82 this week over at Mojo Monday and wanted to play along. I love the Downtown Diva set from Taylored Expressions and was excited to use the papers from the Sweet Branch Collection - and so I made this card for a dear friend of mine.

I just wanted to thank all of you, who wrote such sweet comments about the little family accident etc. from the last post.... I am truly grateful for each of you who wrote such sweet words - it really gave me so much comfort...It's amazing to me how a sweet word from a friend can suddenly uplift you - how kindness and and understanding - can make such a difference in how you face things - from thinking that you are alone - to feeling that you are supported. So, this card is dedicated to all of you! You are all priceless and are the sweetest! Thank you so much - you don't know how much it has touched my heart!

I love the heart between the two cupcakes - it says sweet friends! and the sentiment reads: Friends like you are priceless! Here are the deets for the card:

Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge #48 - You're so sweet

Good Evening Everyone,

I am loving this latest color challenge that Kristina has posted for Color Inspiration Challenge #48 which are the color combinations of Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze and Whisper White. I already made one card and after I was done, I wanted to make another one - its such a great color combo....

So this is what I came up with: a little scene of a Sweet Shoppe with ribbons for leaves and the sentiment "You're so sweet": the stamps are from Taylored Expressions ( the tree is from the Branching Out set and the shop and sentiment is from the Downtown Diva set).

I am running out the door right now - and so I will come back and write all the details of the card - just wanted to get it in before the deadline tonight! Ack!

Hope all are doing well!!!
More soon!

Thank you for visiting!

Taylored Expressions: Release Day!!!

Good Sunday morning everyone!

Today is the big release day over at Taylored Expessions where you can see the two new stamp sets fresh out of the oven - plus a whole lot more.

To celebrate - I made a quick (I am talking 14 minute card) and a coordinating purse!! I loved the colors that Kristina has up for her ColorInspirationChallenge this week - so I used that as inspiration - as well as Taylor's awesome sketch #62. I love these new stamps that Taylor has in her Downtown Diva stamp set - and one of my favorite images is this cute little purses stamp with the sentiment Retail Therapy (and who couldn't use a little retail therapy? I know I could!!).

I created a matching "purse favor box", which is going to be available at the Taylored Expressions store today - it is perfect for Mother's Day or just giving a gift for that special lady!
And here is a shot of the matching card and the purse (I am thinking to fill it up with chocolate - isn't that what we all need - a purse full of chocoalte - forget your driver's liscence or keys!)

I also used the Favor Box with the oval window opening from Taylor's Store (I love all her Favor Boxes - they are sooo convenient to have on hand - already scored - ready to be folded) and covered the opening with some vellum.

I decided to make some mini note cards for my mother's day gift for my mom that she can give out with gifts.

I used one 8 1/2 x 11" paper from the Mother's Day Key Ingredients kit that I folded into a trifold and then cut out the 2 3/16th inches. I paper pieced this new cuppie set with the papers from the Mother's Day Key Ingredients kit - got to love all the rhinestones in this kit! Isn't this image of Cuppie SO cute?

It was so much fun to use this new Cuppie from the Downtown Diva set - that set is so versatile - its perfect for any project! Well, Taylored Expressions is the place to be this morning because the store is ready to be shopped at - talk about Retail Therapy!!!

Taylored Expressions: Sneak Peeks - Day Two

Good Saturday Morning,

Welcome to the second day of sneak peeks from Taylored Expressions!!! YAY!!Yesterday we got to show you some of the images from the stamp set Fresh Flowers, today we are showing sneak peeks from this awesome set called Downtown Diva - and you are going to LOVE it!!!

These images are sooo cute!!! I have so many ideas spinning in my head from this set that I am dizzy! LOL! Both of these stamp sets are just full of images and sentiments that are perfect for Mother's Day, Thank you Cards, Let's Shop (Girlfriends cards), Happy Birthday Cards, and Just Because cards! Can't wait to ink them all up - and the images that I HAD to ink up as soon as I saw it was the one with these sweet buildings! I inked these up on Stazon Black and then pulled out my watercolors and had so much fun painting. I also added a little dimension to the awning by popping it out on dimnsionals.

I used Taylor's Sketch # 59 for this card and the sentiment reads: People who say money can't buy happiness, don't know where to shop!!! I was sooo psyched when I saw that because my GF and I just had a shopping spree a few weeks ago and had so much fun hitting the shoe stores, craft stores and don't forget the dessert stores!! This card is made for her and I can't wait to give it to her!

For both the outside and inside, I used the Mother's Day Key Ingredient's kit that comes with heavy cardstock in beautiful colors with coordinating DP, flowers, ribbon and rhinestones. I decorated the inside of the card to read: "Shop till you drop!" LOVE IT!!! I have so many GF and SIL's who love to shop (I like to browse) and I can't wait to make a few of these cards for them! Aren't those cupcakes so cute holding purses!!

I also made a little coordinating Favor Box for my buddy that I am going to fill with her favorite chocolate!! I used another stamp in this awesome stamp set that reads: Sweet Shoppe. I used the the matching coordinating papers and ribbon from the Key ingredients kit. You have to check out all the amazing Favor Boxes that Taylor has in her store - they are just amazingly wonderful to have on hand because you can fix up a coordinating gift set in just a few minutes!

Card Details for the Card and the Gift set:
Paper: Mother's Day Key Ingredients Kit and Choice Buutercream cardstock, Favor Boxes
Ink: Chocolate Chip SU!, Stazon On Black, Water Colors
Accessories: All accessories from the ribbon to the rhinestones are in the Mother's Day KeyIngredients Kit - other supplies include: corner rounder, SU! Circle punch, dimensionals silver marker and liquid pearls

I totally have LOVED using the images from both of these stamp sets (you can see the sneak peek from yesterday here) and can't wait for the big release day!!!

Speaking of which - guess what - Taylor will be releasing all of the new Spellbinders dies tomorrow also. Also two new Twinkles will be released tomorrow - (clear rhintestones in various sizes and Multi-colored twinkles in various shapes (stars, hearts, flowers, teardrops, squares, etc.) Taylor is offering an awesome deal that if you purchase both of these new Twinkles, she will throw in a multi-colored round twinkles FREE.
