Doing a christmas card every week last year was such a help by the time October rolled around and I didn't feel like there were a jillion Christmas cards to be done all at once, so I am excited to be part of the team again this year and get started on my holiday cards :) This week, Vicki has created a card making recipe challenge:

2 layers, 3 buttons and glitter!
can't beat a recipe with glitter in it! ;)
Here is my recipe card using the Wings of Joy stamp set from Taylored Expressions:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: MME Colorful Christmas and Prism Cardstock
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Spellbinders, stickles, liquid pearls, sponger, buttons/ribbon from stash, gel pen

If you want to get your christmas cards going -join in on the fun and check out the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long blog to see what all the lovely ladies have created with this awesome recipe challenge!

A Bevy of Challenge Cards - well - okay just 4 :)

Good Morning Everyone,

This week has been flying by - I can't even handle it! And speaking of "handling this" - I love the slogan from the Color Throwdown  ladies: Can You Handle this!?! I loved these soft colors that we have for this week's  color challenge- aren't these colors just so sweet! I immediately thought of a baby card ....
and so I made two - one for a boy and one for a girl - one of each just in case I need a quick card - and these were super quick cards - literally 7 minutes each - crazy! I used the sketch that PaperCraftPlanet is featuring this week.
Card Details:
Ink: Bordering Blue from SU! and I forgot what kind of pink from SU!
Accessories: booties from stash, spellbinders, cuttlebug embossing folder, corner rounder, Kaiser,  ribbon from stash

THanks ladies for the fun colors!!! The next color challenge that I did was one that my good friend Diana Gibbs created this week - she has her own color challenge! So I had to play along to support my chickie!!! Here are her fun colors for her Color Challenge #1

And here is my card for her challenge - I made this card using one of my new fave sets from Taylored Expressions: Chillax :) This is made for a good friend of mine who just started a new job and I wanted to give it to her on Friday (today :) - so that she good have a Chillaxin TGIF :)

Card Ingredients:
Ink: Old Olive from SU!
Accessories: liquid glaze, stickles, Kaiser rhinestones, circle cutter from CM, copics

Okay and one more challenge (actually two) - this is for Julee's awesome Mojo Monday sketch 101 and  I also used the Limited Supplies challenge this week over at SCS which was: chocolate paper of some sort, a butterfly, a birthday type card and it was to be a money holder as well - so here is everything:
and here is my card using the Beary Special Stamp set and sentiment from Taylored Expressions - it has a pocket for some moola in the inside (what is so sad is that when I went to take a pic of the card and was looking for some moola - all I could find was a dollar bill! okay - need to go to the bank!)

Card Details:
Paper: SEI papers
Ink: Stazon Black
Accessories: Spellbinders, martha punch, corner rounder, white gel pen, Medows punch from CM, ribbon from stash, stickles

I had so much fun making these cards - the colors and images were so fun to work with and more than anything - I loved having some time to create something - this week has been so hectic and I really am always amazed at how therapeutic it is to craft! (the more stress - the more cards!!! ha!)

Thanks so much for visiting my corner :) Have a go at all these challenges out there!
Big hugs to all!!!
Sankari :)

PS- Have a chillaxin friday ya'll!!!!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #46 - Field of Dreams

Good Morning Everyone - its time for another Cinema Saturday challenge - where every saturday we pick a new movie from which to draw our inspiration from in creating a card, layout, altered item etc. Today's movie pick is the 1989 Academy Award nominated movie: Field of Dreams!  Among other categories - this movie was nominated for Best Picture and is a movie that inspires the audience to reach for your dreams and enlivens the value of hope, faith and listening to the inner guiding voice. It is truly beyond a sports genre film - and rather, as one movie review wrote: ".... it is a testament to the timeless nature of its story and the universal reach of its theme of family, faith and redemption."

To be honest - I hadn't really wanted to see this movie since it came out because I thought it was a baseball movie - but watching the movie as I made the card for today's challenge - totally moved me - its really so much beyond a story about baseball. I was inspired by the journey that Kevin Costner's character took in listening to "the voice" and the ending of the movie is just so touching. So I made my card as a tribute to enjoying the journey that we are all on and used the baseball as a motif from the movie - I wanted to make a rugged, manly boy card - and you have no idea how much pain it caused to sponge the baseball in way that wasn't pretty (lol :) I wanted it to look a little rugged - as life's journey sometimes is:

Card Details:
Paper: from stash
Accessories: embroidery thread, liquid pearls (it is slightly hilarious to me that I used liquid pearls on a manly card! ha! I am so addicted to those things!) making memories brads.
Technique: cut out a circle on a half folded up cardstock so that part of the circle is not cut so that it can stand up as a circle card, cut out the same size circle on a different cardstock, pierce holes going in half circles around the large circle and thread in a v-shape to create a baseball stitch, add "not pretty" sponging and a sentiment.

And after making such a card with "not pretty" sponging - I wanted to make a more "pretty" card so I made this one because I was totally inspired by the quote: "Those who hear not the music, think the dancer mad"  -  This quote totally makes me think of the movie and Costner's character's journey as he listen's to the voice.

Card Details:
Paper: DCVW Taj papers
Stamps: Verve Beautiful You stamp
Accessories: ribbon from stash, circle cutters from CM, spellbinders, sakura gel glaze pen, pearls from Kaiser, red bling from Martha, corner rounder
Sketch used - Mojo Monday Day 5

I had so much fun making these cards for the challenge and hope that you play along with us too! You can check out more details on the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge blog!

Thanks so much for visiting my little blog corner!!!
Hope all of your field of dreams comes true!!!
hugs!

Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge #48 - You're so sweet

Good Evening Everyone,

I am loving this latest color challenge that Kristina has posted for Color Inspiration Challenge #48 which are the color combinations of Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze and Whisper White. I already made one card and after I was done, I wanted to make another one - its such a great color combo....

So this is what I came up with: a little scene of a Sweet Shoppe with ribbons for leaves and the sentiment "You're so sweet": the stamps are from Taylored Expressions ( the tree is from the Branching Out set and the shop and sentiment is from the Downtown Diva set).

I am running out the door right now - and so I will come back and write all the details of the card - just wanted to get it in before the deadline tonight! Ack!

Hope all are doing well!!!
More soon!

Thank you for visiting!

Cinema Saturday #25 - Goldfinger and BLOG CANDY!!!

First of all - Thank you to all of you who come to our blog and guess with us on Friday nights for the sneak peeks, who play along with us, who comment and everything else in between! You all have become like a little mini blog family and we are truly truly truly grateful to all of YOU!!! So as a special little treat - we have included a little blog candy with this challenge!

Welcome to our 25th Challenge at Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!!! We are so excited to have done 25 challenges and wanted to do something fun and action packed --- what could be better suited than than a classic James Bond movie... the 1964 classic movie Goldfinger. Did you know that Goldfinger won an Oscar for Best Effects and Sound!

The requirement this week... well.... it had to be to add some gold to your card! Either a little or a lot.... go for gold!

This is a great site to find more info on James Bond, as is this site.
It was so much fun to pick a James Bond movie for this week's Cinema Challenge - can I just tell you that I have the song Goldfinger totally stuck in my head now.... (randomly all last night, I would just start singing... Gold..fing-ah.... LOL!) I have to say Connery is definitely a Bond... no one can pull off that terrycloth bathing jumper (from the scene when he was in Miami) than Connery... seriously...!

There were sooo many different things that I wanted to do with this card -- but all my inspiration kept coming back to the opening and so I based my card on that opening shot.... this is a little birthday card for a special friend of mine (whom shall not be named... but whose name starts with B and ends with E and rhymes with cook :)

I created the silhouette on Photoshop and the sentiment too. After printing it out - I cut out the image out with my CM cutters and then adhered it to black and gold circles. I punched circles from Martha's mini scallop punch and adhered on the back of the image. The I punched out a 1 3/4 circle and traced it around the head of the image and then from there I created some swirl patterns around the image and then colored it in gray alternatingly. I added some liquid pearls (of course... i am on such a "dot" kick right now!) and then tied a bow using the rbibon in my stash. And as a finishing touch, I added some stardust stickles to the image for a little more blinged out Bond girl feel :)

I am truly grateful to all of you for inspiring me each week and for playing our challenge! I am also grateful to my movie challenge partner Brooke - thank you for all that you do! I remember last year around this time, around the summer, I had this idea to create a challenge based on movies... and now to see that this challenge blog is at 25 challenges - I am just totally psyched! Thank you!!!!- you guys are really just awesome and I am so glad that I got to meet you all in blogland!

As a special thank you - I wanted to give away some really yummy blog candy:

1. The chance to win Taylor's newest set: Branching Out (my favorite set!)
2. And also the chance to win the Prudence Paper Collection kit from Taylored Expressions!!!

Thank you so much for coming over to visit my little corner! You are the best!

Big hugs to all!
Sankari :)
