Together Forever!

HI everyone,

One of our dearest friends became engaged to another dear friend and I am so excited for her wedding coming up later this year! I wanted to send them a congratulations card that was bright and happy and full of our happy wishes :) I used the VLV sketch #3 from January that Teresa had created for this card and used the Up, Up and Away stamp set with the sentiment: Together for Ever from the Love Notes stamp set from Verve stamps and used one of the sweet little hearts from this stamp set along with the heart from the Text Objects stamp set from Verve. I love all of the balloons from the Up, Up and Away stamp set and its always hard to decide which one to use - but I used the circle one because then I could paper piece it with one of the DP's from the MME Love Me Do papers. I added a little heart from the Love Notes stamp set and added a little glitter to it and put it on the center of the balloon.
Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Up, Up and Away stamp set, Love Notes stamp set from Verve (sentiment) and stitched heart from the Text Objects stamp set from Verve.
Paper: MME Love Me Do papers and PTI cardstock
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Ladybug Red ink
Accessories: liquid pearls, bling, dimensionals, baker's twine, dimensionals, chunky glitter and corner chomper

I love this sentiment "together forever" and I love all the different fonts in the Love Notes stamp set. I stamped the sentiment and created a little tag by chomping some corners and punching a hole that I added some twine too and attached to the ribbon. I finished it off with some bling, liquid pearl dots and some glitter on the clouds. I really had fun putting this card together and the best part will be to mail it to them (hopefully, I can actually get it in the mail before they get married - I am notoriously bad for making cards and never sending them out - so hopefully on monday - I can get to the post office and actually mail it off!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today - also - please be sure to stop by the Verve blog for more Verve-y goodness - and the SCS Verve forum for all the new March sketches!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #28 - The Lion King

Good Saturday morning Everyone!!
Welcome to our 28th Cinema Saturday Challenge - where this week, we are so excited to feature the 1995 2 time Oscar winning animated movie: The Lion King! The requirement this week is to create a movie with an animal inspired by the movie. Which is really simple when you look at the wide range of inspiration from the movie!

I used Lynn's sketch that she created for the Saturday Sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet - what a fun sketch! You can see the sketch and more here. I loved using these stamps (they were all the way in the corner... I am always debating between getting rid of stamps I don't use that much and just hording everything that I have.... the plus side to getting rid of old things is that you have more space for new things and less guilt but the down side is that you might get rid of something and then end of regretting it when you can come across a project where you suddenly realize that it would have been per-fect for it!)

One of my favorite relationships that are explored in this movie is that between Simba and his father. There is a scene where Simba asks his father: We'll be together always, right? and his father tells him to look up at the stars and he will see that the great kings of the past are always there to guide him and so is he.... I always loved that part... just the connection between generations that is there and that love that is always there forever - and how the blessings of the ancestors are there to guide you in your path today.... so I took this inspiration to create my card: Together Forever.

Card Details:
Paper: From Stash
Ink: Memento: Tuxedo Black
Stamps: In the Wild stamp set from Stampin Up!
Accessories: liquid pearls, bling, tearing tool, ribbon, circle cutter from Creative Memories
Show watched: Lie To Me (on Hulu.com - love it!)

We have a special Guest designer over at the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - and I hope you all hop on over to the Cinema Saturday blog and check out all the details for the challenge - AND that you play along with us this week!!! Cmon'!

Hope you are having an awesome start to your weekend!
Ciao for now!

Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge #33 - Peace, Joy and Love Holiday card

Good Morning Everyone,

Guess who woke up super early today... me! With the house as quiet as a mouse - I was finally able to attempt Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #33 for this week. This week her challenge comes from a notebook that she took at her local Target store of a notebook covered with buttons.

The five colors are:
Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Taken with Teal, Certainly Celery and Whisper White. These felt like fun colors and so I tried to have fun with them. I don't know about you guys, but I need to get cracking on some holiday cards - so I used these non-traditional holiday colors to make a holiday card and here is what I ended up with: A Peace, Joy and Love Card:

I just found out about this great paper company called the Paper Temptress - there are so many awesome papers to choose from - I love the quality too. I used the Brown Column cardstock from the Paper Temptress for the base of the card. And the green and teal are from my scrap stash - which I am trying to reduce so I can get more papers :) The peace symbol is a foam cutout that I stickled orange, the face is created from 2 punches (one of the face and the other from a MS small circle scallop punch (also stickled). The heart I drew and then added an eyelet to pull the ribbon through into a knot (also stickled orange - i {heart} stickles :). The circle layers were created using the SU! scallop punch and the Fiskars 1" circle punch - which was then adhered to the squared alternating cardstock (one corner of which was rounded with a corner rounder).

With the bottom half of the 1"circle punch, I embossed the words: peace and love - with white EP (from Taylor's SASI kit) and the word Joy was embossed with clear EP (from Martha's Christmas stamps).

Overall - it was a fun project and I had fun with the colors. Totally not a traditional holiday card - but ...that's okay, right??

This card marks me doing 20 of Kristina's color challenges in a row! You can check out all of her color challenges: here. I remember reading her blog and seeing the color inspiration pieces and then the round up - and was always so inspired - and then finally I thought maybe I would try it so I created this blog - and posted my card and was totally hooked to CIC's :)  Just wanted to say a big thank you for all of the amazing lovely friends that I have met doing KW's challenges - you all totally inspire me! And a big hello to everyone who I haven't had the chance to meet yet! and of course a big thank you to KW for continuing with these fun challenges!

Alright - off to make lunch for my little munchkins...!
Hope you are all doing great!

Thanks for coming over to visit!
Ciao for now!

Color Inspiration Challenge #14

Hi Everyone,
Its time for another awesome Kristina Werner: Color Inspiration Challenge. I really loved this challenge because I haven't really used this color scheme yet - and I have to say that it was the most fun that I have had making a card.

The five colors for the challenge were: Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Ruby Red and River Rock. Since we could opt out of the Ruby Red/River Rock, I chose to opt out of the River Rock.  I just loved the look of the monochromatic with a splash from the red spectrum.

Now first things first. I know, I know I know that this is NOT a practical card - in that it won't fit in your everyday envelope - but it was SO fun to make that, I just didn't want to focus on any practical issues :)

The black and gray cardstock is from my scrap pile. The DP is from me and my big ideas - I was going to use it for a scrapbook layout - but then thought that it would fit in with this challenge. The big beautiful butterfly is from Midwest Design and is made of dyed feathers with glitter. Its really soooo beautiful and lovely and makes the card so very unpractical but so very yummy :)  The metal ribbon charm is from Making Memories and the Gray/Silver ribbon is from Wrights (Casa Collection). The stamped sentiment is from Clear Stamps (Heidi Grace designs) and was stamped with Black Stazon Ink. I am not sure where the flowers are from - these were bought pre-blogging days, where I didn't keep the companies that made products.

I can't even tell you how much fun this particular group of colors were - I totally loved it and had a million different ideas. I am not sure if this is particularly sassy?, but I was just going for a BIG, different, FUN, bold look.... and it was definitely fun.

Hope all of you are well and are enjoying your almost weekends :)
Best wishes to all,
Sankari
