Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #84 - Father of the Bride

Good Morning Everyone - and welcome to the 84th Cinema Saturday Challenge, where every week on the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge Blog - we pick a different movie and then create a card, scrapbook page or 3D creation inspired by the movie! This week, we picked the movie: Father of the Bride (released in 1991) which is a remake of the movie of the same title released in 1950. You can pick either movie for your challenge card - but the challenge requirement is that there should be a little/or alot of something blue in your card (like from the old adage - something borrowed, something blue).

I loved watching this movie around when it came out - mostly because the interaction between Steve Martin and Martin Short is beyond hilarious! I love when Steve Martin's character George, can't even understand a word of what Martin Short's character (Fraank) is even saying (check out this clip on Youtube) - its just hilarious! But I have to say that after getting married and having children - I see this movie in such a different light - seeing your children grow up and get married and then leave - what a letting go process!

I was just inspired by Steve Martin's character and his love for his little girl - his little princess who was now getting married - who suddenly is seen as a "woman" - and as the wedding plans swirl around him and the bills start mounting and he needs to hyperventilate a few times - the one thing that keeps him steady through the chaos is the love for his daughter. And through all the stress of wedding planning - I just adore the way he looks at his daughter - and even though she is all grown up - he always sees her as his little girl that he will love and protect. I was inspired by love and it reminded me of my father who is also one of my best friends and would simply do anything for me, as I would for him. I actually have already sent my father's day card - but had to make one more card - and hey who says father's day or mother's day isn't everyday! :)

I used the awesome stamp sets World's Best and Just For You from Verve Stamps to create this card. I LOVE that you can mix the sentiments up - and so from the World's Best stamp set - I created the sentiment: "Father: another name for love" and created a little popped up circular frame from the Just For You stamp set. I used the Mojo Monday sketch for this card:

Card Ingredients:
Papers: Martha Stewart and Bazzil
Inks: Memento Bahama Blue
Accessories: thread, heart punch from Martha Stewart, bling, dimensionals, corner rounder, liquid pearls, spellbinders and paper piercer.

I loved making this card with my dad in my heart as I made it - and I can't imagine one day that my children might get married....and live their lives separately.... sigh..... but at least for right now - i can still snuggle, cuddle and smoosh their cheeks with kisses :)

Please check out the Cinema Saturday blog for more details and hope that you have a chance to play along!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Hope you are having a great day!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)
