2 Sketches 4 You - #38 - Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that you had a lovely weekend! Ours was wonderful, celebrating the wedding of one of my dear friends and wishing them the best in the new adventure of marriage :) This morning over at 2 Sketches 4 You, is a sad one, as team members Lori, Kim, Anja, Latisha are departing today :( waaaaaaahhh! I feel so lucky to be part of this amazing team and to have a chance to have worked with them :)

2 Sketches 4 You -Laura's Sketch #37 - Eat Drink and be Scary!

Good Monday Morning Everyone,

Monday brings us another awesome sketch from the lovely Laura at 2 Sketches 4 You, where this week the sponsor is Creative Cuts and More. They have premade templates and die cut cards already to go - so its a simple piece of cake to put together a project.

This week for the sketch, I used one of their coffin templates to create this little favor box full of yummy Halloween treats :). I had fun adapting the sketch to a 3D element :) Before I adhered the sides of the coffin together, I traced around a DP and then cut the image to fit ontop of the cofffin favor box. And then I used adhered the sentiments finished it off with some fibrous ribbon for a little extra effect. And the last touch was adding the blueberry candycorn - its true -they do make blueberry candy corn - and they are yummy!

2 Sketches 4 You - Laura's sketch #35 - Trick or Sweet!

Good Monday Morning Everyone,

This week over at 2 Sketches 4 You, Laura has an awesome sketch #35 for us to play along with! I LOVE the square element of the sketch and used it as a window. This fit perfectly with this week's sponsor's is Creative Cuts and More which comes with elements to make card making easy - there are kinds of designs and cuts that are ready to go - you just assemble. I was surprised at how quickly my card came together. I used their Square Window Card design and created a little treat or "sweet" card using the cutest little vampire I know (okay except for Edward!:) from the Trick or Sweet stamp set.

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks - Day2 - Trick or Sweet II

Good Morning Everyone,

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for the Day 2 of sneak peeks from Taylored Expressions!!! Half of us on the Baker's Dozen will be featuring the stamp set: Spooky Expressions and the rest will be featuring the stamp set: Trick or Sweet II (it is the continuation of Trick or Sweet I released last year). I am SO psyched to be featuring the Trick or Sweet II set because first of all - cupcakes are just plain cute - but then - you put a costume on them - and the cute factor goes up 500 notches!!! 

Taylor has an awesome Halloween Key Ingredients kit featuring  cardstock, coordinating DP, ribbon, super cute epoxy buttons, brads, chipboard letters and more! SERIOUS Halloween must haves!

I can't even tell you how MUCH I LOVE this little froggie stamp set - I made a few cards using this image - and just wanted to show the versatility of this stamp set: it can be used for both Halloween cards as well as other kinds of cards:

I love these papers that are in this kit - they are such fun Halloween papers and I love this sentiment of have a Toad-ally Awesome Halloween - soo cute - here is my card using this sentiment:

I love this sentiment - it is so cute - and so using more of the papers and ribbon from this Halloween Kit- I created this:

And as I was making this card - I had an idea to try to make a spinner card - where on one side - there was a frog and on the other side there was a prince - so I created this spinner card:

I really loved making this one  - it was so fun and easy (uses a 2" circle) - you have to try it!!!!

To show you a little more of the action aspect of this card - here is a little video that I made for this card (hope you like it - its my very first video on this blog !! it does have some audio music - so be sure not to have the volume high)

As you can tell I had a total blast making these cards and the video because I completely love this stamp set - it is just soooo cute and fun and so versatile as well!!!

The best part is - that even after making all these cards - 

I still have a ton of DP and items left over from the 

Halloween Key Ingredients kit!! 

Gotta love that (and good thing too because tomorrow brings the reveal of another Halloween stamp set!!! woot!)

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #39 - 2 Cards

Good Monday Morning Everyone,

Hope your weekend was good - ours flew by. Thanks for all the sweet wishes for our daughter's health - her fever is down a little (she has had a viral fever for the last 4 1/2 days...her doctor seemed to think it is roseola.... I am trying to keep the kids separated so she doesn't get our son sick.... which is near impossible to separate them...). I didn't have much of a chance to craft or comment on your blog - I am sorry about that - but hopefully will have a little more time now that I don't have to constantly hold a sick little baby. In the midst of all the craziness this weekend - I had a chance to try Taylor's Cupcake Challenge sketch for this week (have you seen the cute stamps that she just released - OMG - way tooo cute!) I love her sketches and this one was no different - loved the circles and bows on the side and couldn't wait to try it for a bday card I needed to make for my friend. 

 

The first card is for one of my dearest friends who is working in Berlin now. We went to college and got to hang out earlier this spring when she visited. She is sooo Ms. Vogue - so when trying to figure out what kind of card to make for her, I saw this silver paper from a Project Runway pack (sent by my awesome MIL!). The green paper is from K & Co. The buttons were actually earrings once upon a time which were going on sale for 50 cents! I just figured at that price, I could use it for something! The ribbon is from Offray and the rest is scrap piled. I added some liquid pearls and the stamped sentiment from SU and rounded a corner or two :) Its kinda hard to photograph reflective material so I am sorry about the pics.

I also loved Stacy's Jewelry Color Inspiration for this week (she gets her color inspiration from jewelry pieces - how cool is that! you have to go and check her out!)and thought it was perfect for making a Halloween card -  I feel like, I should be making more Halloween cards before the season passes me by, so I made another quick one too.The second card was made for our family friends who we are going trick or treating with tonight (yes, you heard me right, tonight.... for some reason, our town has decided that tonight is Halloween... so my son and I are getting all bundled up (it flurried last night!!) and are going with his preschool class (he is dragon - but he tells everyone that he is a sweet dragon :) LOL!) The cupcakes are from Taylored expressions, as are the ribbon and colored cardstock. I paper pieced and stickled and tied some ribbons and called it a day :) The inside sentiment also from Taylored expressions reads: When mummies roam and pumpkins gleam, may sweets be yours on Halloween. The border on the inside was made with a Martha Stewart border punch and then dotted and ribboned :) Aren't those cupcakes in costumes soo cute! I love using them!

Speaking of cupcakes,  I made 50 of these pumpkin spiced cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (all organic, no eggs, from scratch), but only 39 made it to the party :)

PS: Here is a pic of our son at Walmart -- he didn't want to take off his costume the whole day and so he was dressed as a dragon   as I ran errands the whole day (I think its a bit like an alligator - but he insists that he is a dragon :)- I just thought this pic was sooo cute - he was mesmerized by all the TV's :)

 I asked him to take off his costume - but he refused - and so I went to the grocery store, walmart, the drugstore and to another store with a sweet little dragon holding my hand :) One of the highlights of my day :)

Halloween BOO card - 2S4U & Jewelry Inspiration color challenge

I have been slacking on doing all my favorite challenges - so today's post is actually three separate posts using 6 different challenges (how crazy is that??) But for the simplicity of listing the card ingredients - they are divided into three posts.

This Halloween card drew its inspiration from Kazan's fun sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You and my new favorite color challenge from Stacy where she gets her color inspiration from awesome jewelry pieces. This particular beautiful ring is from the collection of Kristina Moses and you can check out her site HERE).

I loved the colors and loved how the square colors from the ring went so beautiful with the sketch from Kazan. I had to go with a Halloween theme - I tried not to... but still need some more Halloween cards - but I tried to make it boo-tiful (sorry couldn't resist).

Its still raining here - and the chai is simmering on the stove :) the whole house smells chai spicy and warm - yummy!

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #34 - Trick or Sweet!

Good Monday Morning!

Hope all of you had a good weekend! Ours was jam packed with lots of birthday parties, picnics and potlucks. I also went to the store to get some paint and started painting a wall down in the basement. It was something that I just felt had to be done, something that I was thinking about for a while - and so when the kids were asleep - I taped off the walls and started painting away! I chose a really pretty color - in between a yellow and orange called daffodil. A friend of mine is coming over next weekend to help me paint a small mural as the border to the wall....Can't wait to show you guys the finished product later. 

I wasn't able t craft till last night when all the wee ones were tucked away into bed - and then I was so psyched to pull out my new stamps from Taylored Expressions for Taylor's Cupcake Friday challenge!!! This week's sketch is found to the left. Taylor had encouraged us to get creative with the stitching aspect of the sketch and also the beauty of a card when it is decorated on the inside as well.

So here is what I came up with: my first Halloween card... ever! I just realized that I have never made one before (whaaaa?)!!! It was an awesome way to make my first one because these images of these cupcakes in their halloween costumes is just waaaay beyond cute! The stamps are a dream to stamp and clean and the images produced are very crisp. It was sooo much fun to make this card! Everything on this card is from Taylor's Halloween Key Ingredients Kit. 

I stamped all the cupcake images and then cut them out. The bottoms were paper pieced with 

gray metal paper. The rest of the images were colored with Prism pencils and the witches hair and part of her broom were painted with brown paint. I used Taylor's brads for the kitty's nose, the pirates green bow and the witches cape. The cupcakes were stacked onto a strip of green cardstock and then was faux stitched using purple paint. The strip that was to become the "folder" for the stacked cupcake tab - is a piece of cardstock from Taylor's Halloween pack (all paper is from TE). The top opening was punched out the a 2" circle punch and then outlined with the scallop rim from my scallop punch. 

The folder was faux stitched with purple paint. The square mini card on card front has scalloped border (corner rounder) and is matted using the square punches from Creative Memories. The sentiment reads: Trick or Sweet. The ribbon slit was cut into the mini card  (the purple ribbon was adhered onto the orange ribbon). 

The inside pumpkin cupcake has the same paper piecing and has the pumpkin grooves outlined in stickles. I loved the sentiment which reads: " When mummies roam and pumpkins gleam, May sweets be yours this Halloween."
