It's officially Summer!!! - Two Sketches and two Summer Cards :)

Good Morning Everyone,

Its Official! Its summertime here - school is out and the graduation parties are in full effect :) I wanted to celebrate by making some fun summer cards. I LOVE this new stamp set from Tayloed Expressions called Beach Bum which has all kinds of stamps perfect for summer fun! I also used the coordinating Beach Bum Key Ingredients kit - which is perfect summer colors (comes with cardstock, coordinating DP, ribbons and bling - you check out more details here). I love it when cards come together quickly - and it was fun to make these two summery cards all from the same kit:

Today is my friend's son's Birthday - so I wanted to make a fun bday card for him - so I pulled out Cuppie riding the waves and surfing! I still can't get over how cute it is that a cupcake is surfing! LOVE it!!! I used this week's sketch challenge from  Jen Del Muro who hosts a sketch challenge every saturday: Sketch for You to Try. I loved that this stamp set has the expression "Cowabunga Dude!" I think it is perfect for a guy - and so for his bday card (he is 12) I went with this sentiment instead of the usual happy birthday.

I paper pieced the cupcake's "bathing suit" (LOL!) and the surfboard and then painted in the waves and added some liquid pearls and glitter of course. I also had a piece of vellum lying on my craft table (i usually used whatever is on my craft table and hasn't been put away :) and so I added the vellum because it kind of felt like some kind of water element. I really had so much fun making this card and can't wait to give it to him! :)

Card Details:
Paper and Ribbon: All from the Beach Bum Key Ingredient's  Kit
Stamps; Beach Bum stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Scallop Punch SU!, Circle punches from Creative Memories, liquid pearls, coarse crystal glitter from Martha Stewart, making memories brads, vellum from stash and dimensionals

Once I made one card - I just couldn't stop and had to make another one with Beach Bum Cuppie and the Beach Bum Key Ingredient's set. I used Taylor's Friday Cupcake Sketch Challenge for this fun summer card. I stamped Cuppie onto one of the sheets from the Beach Bum Key Ingredient's kit which kind of looks beachy. Then I paper pieced Cuppie and the bucket from some of the papers from the kit. I colored in the sandcastle with my Prisma Color Pencils and then popped it up on dimensionals. I love these fun papers!

I made this card for my friends who are heading out for summer holidays at the beach and we won't see them till school starts again. Speaking of summer vacation - what are your plans for this summer holiday?? Are you guys planning some big or little trips? We are planning some mini trips here and there - can't wait to get out and let the kids run free at the cabin!

Card Details:
Paper and Ribbon: All from the Beach Bum Key Ingredient's  Kit
Stamps; Beach Bum stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Circle punches from Creative Memories, liquid pearls, Prisma Color Pencils, and dimensionals

I hope that you are all enjoying the start of summer holidays and for my wonderful Aussie friends - I hope the approaching winter isn't too wintery - sending everyone lots of sunshine-y cheer!!!

Thank you SO much for visiting my little corner :)
Big hugs!
Sankari :)
